Gomde UK, is a centre for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and for the development of environmental Buddhism. You don’t need to be a practicing Buddhist to join our thriving community, but you must be committed to making the community a success based on our Buddhist values centred on calmness, kindness, and clarity.
We are seeking a passionate and skilled cook. Our live-in cook will be responsible for preparing lunch and dinner five days a week for up to 25 people. You will also support the session cooks during large events and work with day volunteers who help in the kitchen.
Key tasks include creating meal plan within a budget, the provision of tasty, nutritious vegetarian meals, catering for special dietary needs, ordering and managing stock effectively to minimise waste and working with the garden team to utilise all fresh produce. You will keep all keep relevant paperwork including fridge temperatures, food temperatures, probe calibrations and wastage reports and keep kitchen and equipment up to food hygiene standards.
The successful candidate will have experience of cooking for larger numbers of people, managing a kitchen effectively and working harmoniously as part of a team.
You must have Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2, and an understanding of COSHH and HACCP systems.
