£10.30/hour, 15 hours/week (flexible; majority of hours could be completed during school times, over 3-5 days to suit, but the job includes occasional evenings and Sunday mornings)
Good Neighbours Coventry is a successful initiative which supports older people in Coventry. Developed by local churches, in partnership with Age UK Coventry, we work collaboratively to improve the wellbeing of isolated and lonely older people. This is achieved through befriending, and by developing existing social networks, including the use of existing community resources. HOPE Coventry is looking to recruit two dynamic, inspirational and motivated local area Coordinators to join the existing Good Neighbours Coventry project team. These roles will mostly be focussed in the north of the city, as we seek to extend the work of Good Neighbours Coventry in those areas.
This job is suitable for someone who works with initiative, is a good communicator, and can support and encourage an older person to build friendship and independence within their community. The person must be willing to work for and engage with organisations with a strong Christian ethos, and the role will involve giving some sermons and talks at churches.
