Could you be our next Governor?
For 50 years, Coeliac UK have been the experts on coeliac disease and the gluten free diet. We are an independent charity helping people living without gluten to live happier, healthier lives.
We do this by providing our 60,000 plus members with trustworthy advice and support, funding critical research into coeliac disease, working with healthcare professionals to improve diagnosis and fighting for better availability of gluten free food. And we do it all so that one day, no one’s life will be limited by gluten.
The charity is led and guided by a team of volunteer Governors who provide their expertise and insight to help drive the charity forward.
We have a vacancy for a new Governor and are looking for someone able to understand our complex agenda in a fast changing environment. We are ideally looking for an individual with experience in major fundraising and who recognises the potential of digital technology in marketing, service delivery and process improvement. Fundraising experience achieved by reaching audiences through both traditional and digital communication channels and modern ways to give would be especially relevant. Involvement in innovative digital projects over a period delivering tangible benefits would be of particular interest. If you can relate this to the context of the charity’s work: healthcare, food sector, licensing and accreditation, knowledge of the disease, UK country specifics eg Wales, then all the better. Even if you don’t have experience in these areas but you have something to bring to the charity, do think about applying.
Our next business plan is looking very exciting and if you become one of our Governors, you will help shape how it is implemented successfully. What’s more, the current strategic plan will need replacing by 2020 and so any Governor taken on in the next few years will have a chance to develop the new strategy for the charity for beyond 2020.
The Board meet in person around five times a year mainly in High Wycombe and London but are also required to participate in a handful of conference calls and serve on various Board committees. The time commitment is approximately a day and a half a month or less. Appropriate training and inductions are provided and all out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
