This is an exciting opportunity to increase and coordinate lived experience and sector engagement in Manchester Homelessness Partnership (MHP).
The purpose of this role is to support co-production and service improvement by ensuring that there is meaningful involvement of people with a range of lived experiences of homelessness, and engagement from services across the sector.
The Community Engagement Coordinator’s main areas of responsibility will be;
- To increase the quantity and diversity of people with lived experience of homelessness involved in MHP.
- To build capacity of experts by experience to ensure that people moving through homelessness can play a full role and have a voice within all aspects of the MHP and other strategic forums.
- To support co-production and service improvement by ensuring that the experiences of those who are homeless and in temporary accommodation inform change and service development across all sectors.
Applicants will need to have excellent organisational, communication and management skills. You will need to engage a wide range of people, from people experiencing different forms of homelessness, to grassroots groups and activists, to council and commissioned service leaders. You will need to be positive, motivated, proactive, reliable, flexible, and willing to embrace our mission, values and culture.
Experience in community development with a co-production/strength based approach is important, alongside a good understanding of issues faced by people experiencing homelessness and within the sector. We value lived experience, professional and learned experience, and welcome applications from people with personal experience of homelessness (though this is not a requirement).
The successful applicant will be employed and managed by Street Support Network who are part of Manchester Homelessness Partnership (MHP). You can find out more about this organisation and MHP in our project specification.
* We may decide to offer a lower salary if the successful applicant needs further developmental support in the form of training, coaching, mentoring, or event facilitation.
