In 2017 Jane Austen’s House Museum marked the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death through the launch of Jane’s Fund, a £250,000+ appeal to support capital improvements to the Museum as well as other priority projects. The Museum also welcomed over 50,000 visitors in 2017, a figure it would like to achieve every year.
The post of Trusts and Foundations fundraiser has been created as part of a follow-up programme of activity made possible through a Heritage Lottery Fund Resilient Heritage grant. This programme of activity will run from April 2018 until December 2019.
Working closely with the Museum’s Curator and colleagues in Marketing & Communications, the Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser will share fundraising knowledge and skills with key team members as well as raising funds for Jane Austen’s House Museum primarily by means of applications to grant making trusts and foundations for the capital aspects of the campaign. Other key responsibilities will include creating a strategy for the capital aspects of the Jane’s Fund campaign and taking a lead role in supporting the introduction of a new fundraising database/CRM system to the Museum.
Crucially, the postholder will be required to dedicate time to sessions with permanent staff to allow for knowledge transfer and for crafting a fundraising action plan for beyond the project. Sharing of skills, shadowing opportunities and knowledge transfer are key parts of this project.
